Just a little something

Hello reader,
First, I just want to apologize for the lack of posts or interesting posts. I’ve been feeling kind of down and I’m assuming it’s this rainy gray weather we’ve been having here in New England.

Also, I’m really feeling the need for some of your thoughts.

What makes us feel insecure in our selves and in our relationships? Let’s face it nothing is an easy ride, it has its bumps and falls, so I’m wondering what makes you feel insecure and frustrated?

Next, once someone loses your trust, how quickly can that person get it back and what does he/she need to do?

What is a “non-negotiable” in your relationship – or future relationship? How do you feel about ex-girlfriends? What about your best friend’s ex-boyfriend (or current boyfriend)? How do you think the cyber world changed the way our relationships and friendships function? Is it a positive or negative? What about messages versus comments – is there a difference? What is the main purpose for the two?

Oh I hope I get a lot of responses on this, my mind has just been an endless circle of torturous thoughts and no one to tell them to.

Hope you all are well and feeling good! xo

Eyes on: Eva Mendes

To date, my celebrity obsession is none other than Eva Mendes.

She is full of hot sultry sex and yet embodies total sophistication.
Not to mention her incredible keen sense of style.

Judith Ripka

Ok it's Sunday morning and I'm watching QVC.
Guess what's on? Judith Ripka!

I'm a huge fan of David Yurman, and the Judith Ripka collection is very similar, only with more hearts than squares.

These are some of my favorite Judith Ripka pieces...

Have you seen or own any of her pieces?

Golden Brown Palettes

Huge appologies for being gone for so long!

I wanted to do a quick post on some of my golden brown palettes - or rather trios, quads and the like. Victoria's Sercret Radiant Shimmer Eye Palette in Heat Mirage was my first of this collection. I remember using it all the time! But it has horrible staying power and creases withing hours.

The Body Shop's Shimmer Cubes in 06 I got shopping with my boyfriend's mom. It was so fun, we each gone one and this was my first cosmetic purchase from the body shop. I believe they don't make this anymore, but they have plenty of other shimmer cube choices.

Next my dearest Stila trio in Mazatlan. Oh how I love thee. Seriously, this is the absolute best combination of gold I've ever had! I don't have much to say... the outter white gold color is the smoothest most un-yellow gold highlight in my entire collection. This is now discontinued but you can find it on discount websites.

Sally Hansen's Shimmer Strips in OMG. What a name, ey? This is soo pretty! It's kind wild but all of those colors look so similar once used, but in the package they look totally difference like they can create depth and smoke... but they can't. Nonetheless wonderful highlights for about $5.

Last but not least, Milani's Touch of Brown Quad. Got this at the massive CVS Sale. I did a quick post on this before, it's really fun. I'll have to find you an FOTD with this. The one thing that I noticed, it there really is no "medium" color. Because going straight from the white gold shimmer to the copper brown it's like WHOA! But I guess that's what that matte tan/nude is for.

Ok enjoy your day and enjoy you golden brown palettes! They're so easy and fun!

H&M $5 Haul

VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED.
MAY CAUSE CAPTIVATION, ASTONISHMENT, JEALOUSY, RESENTMENT, AND AN OCCASIONAL "DAAAMN!"

Kidding!

Ok, so I dragged Chris to the mall with me on Friday and we had so much fun. But that's not the point of this post. We walked into H&M and as soon as I saw the mass of 5 dollar racks, he turned around and went to GameStop. I came into the dressing room with 10 items and walked out with 6. Hello! And my bill was only $40. My most expensive was my super awesome blazer which was a whopping $15 [not pictured below].

I suggest you hit up your biggest H&M because I went to my local one and they had nothing but a bunch of junk. But yes, all the items in the photos below were only $5.

Sheer ruffle tank

The color and pattern are so beautiful.

Sheer long sleeved blouse

I can't believe this detailing!

Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips
[Bronze Collection for Blue Eyes]

Ok so I'm totally ga-ga for Physician's Formula Bronze Collection and their eyeshadows. So naturally, when I saw this mixed collection, I was all about it.

My eyes are green, but I got the blue shimmer strips because I liked the colors wayyy more.

As you can see this was formulated for blue eyes, playing up the crystal sparkle and grey shades of blue. The warmer colors are to play up the warm tones in one's skin, thus making you appear bronzer/tanner.

Also, the colors are super rich and sparkly. Not glitter but more than pearl. Shimmery? Swatches below. I also bought another one for a friend, and I'll get those pictures (without swatches) up later.

Channeling Ralph Lauren + Nail Protection

I was feeling the Ralph Lauren vibes this morning.

I don't know what it is, but something about RL's ads really intrigue me. Maybe it's the crips colors of the country, maybe just the basics pieces put together so beautifully, maybe just the absolute minimalistic approach to fashion? Whatever, it's cute.

My makeup was so messy today, I felt like a mess for most of the day. Ok here's how it went down this morning - I got a facial Saturday and afterwards my chin gets flaky and my skin has zero color, but it's smooth like a baby's butt. Unlike some people, I can't rock it out being a fair maiden, I need to feel (look?) like I just came from a weekend at the Bahama's or had a quick romp in the janitor's closet. Ya get the drift... So I put on my Revlon Custom Creations foundation, click 2 - ew! Usually I'm click 3 or 4. Then I did my lightest Jane Iredale poweder and then some Milani bronzer. It was not working today.

Also, another disappointment was my Eyes By Design eyeshadow palette I JUST wrote about and how excited I was to use it. The textures remind me of Maybelline - GASP! You know, kinda chalky and not very blendable. Long story short, I wasn't feeling my face today. But my outfit rocked - at least I thought so.

Ok babes, let's talk nails. Remember I complained about how painfully brittle my nails have been? Well, here are some tips and tricks and just stuff you already knew.
1. Always keep them polished, even if it's a clear coat.
2. Cuticle oil is your best friend.
3. Vitamin E and/or Fish Oil gelcaps do wonders for your nails, skin and hair.
4. Don't be such a germ-a-phobe. Washing hands a million times, only dries them out.
5. When filing, file in one directions. Seriously.
6. Don't square them off too much, the corners will be more prone to breakage.
7. Don't bite!!!

Here are my fave polish "treatments" - can you actually call them treatments? Well, I love them nonetheless!

Nail Tek II & OPI Nail Envy

I don't have much to say about them. They're clear and unnoticeable, although the Nail Tek does give a nice shine. They both dry in seconds, truly, I put this on last minute before rushing out the door, by the time I get to my car, they're dry!

Any nail tricks for me? Anything I missed? Any secrets you are just dying to share? Come onnnnn.... :)

Oh! PS I'm going to have a blog sale soon. Super cheap, some new, most used a few times. There will be something for everyone.

Love, Liz xoxo

How many hair products do you actually USE?

My hair products live under my sink. They rarely see the light. I'm not sure what it is, but I just don't use products in my hair - well I do... but it's a rare occasion and usually it's my Paul Mitchell Smoothing Serum [not pictured].

I don't know what it is about the pretty packaging and unkept promises that keeps me buying hair products that I just don't use! It's not like I use them wrong, I just don't. Maybe I forget? Does this happen to you? Am I alone?

And it's not just products, but tools as well!

These are my blow diers. I actually love and use them both. It's funny because the VS was from Chris - actually his mom, she bought it and thought it sucked and gave it to Chris who didn't use it, until I spelt over and couldn't get over how tiny and quiet this blow drier was but the best part - how quickly it dried my hair! Of course I stole it and now it lives with me.

The Rusk blow drier was a pricey one, but man does it get hot hot hot! Worth the price and comes with a "thingy" that directs the heat right where you want it.

Oh Hair Straighteners. My hair doesn't crunch or crimp and when it's curled sometimes it's poodle-like. A good look for dogs, a bad look for lizzards :)

Ok *deep breath* the Chi I got at Marshalls for $125, talk about a steal! The temperture changes on it and it heats up so quickly I can't even believe it. It's a wet to dry but y'all know what that means - barely damp to dry, and I love how it steams!

The HerStyler is an unheard brand that I got from those kiosks at the mall that said it was a solid ceramic plate (unlike a chi) and it kept your hair straight even through humidity blah blah and I paid $100 for it and overall I use it all the time! Of course that kiosk isn't there anymore and even though my friend paid $20 less, I don't care, it's awesome!

This little mini was a surprise package in the mail. It even comes with a glove because apprently it gets so hot. I haven't use it yet. And wierd, but when I go on trips I always pack the big ones with me. Why do I have this? Speaking of minis I ordered my friend a Soliel straightener from folica.com and got a mini Soliel for free! Cool? Cool! Anyway, I have no clue what I'm doing with all this stuff!!!
