Tapestry Taupe

When I need to look put together and not overdone but am limited on time, I almost always reach for my Covergirl Tapestry Taupe eyeshadow. I actually wrote about this in one of my first few posts. This really is an amazing eyeshadow. I like to pair (tripple?) it with MAC's Grand Entrance (thanks Sarah!) for the inner corners of my eyes and Bobbi Brown's Champagne just under the brows.

I still believe this will look beautiful on any skin tone. Don't you agree? Do you have it? Don't ya love it?!

In celebration of my birthday - a giveaway for you!

Happy Birthday to me (May 19th)!
Here is a gift for you!

I couldn't be more excited for Sex & the City movie 2 coming out Thursday, May 27th, and in lue of my birthday, I wanted to put together a small gift. So when I think Carrie Bradshaw and the girls I think pink, glamour, high fashion and natural beauty. I put together something that (I think) has a mix of everything.

Included in the small gift is a burned Sex & the City movie, The Body Shop lipgloss, Milani blusher/bronzer duo, and L'Oreal HIP eyeshadow, as well as your very own visa credit card! (lol that one is in there just for fun)

A few simple rules. You must be a follower, comment below with your favorite Sex and the City quote/scene - this could be anything from the very first season through the first movie. For an extra entry, repost this giveaway on your *real* blog with the photo included and link back to this post.

Close date is Thursday 27th so act fast!

Must have at least 10 entries.

Cellnique Product Review
Skin Purifying DayTime Protection 20 Part II

I’m sure you’re all Cellnique’d out so I’ll make this quick, if you’re new and don’t know what I’m talking about, you can catch up here.

The Skin Purifying DayTime Protection 20 first impressions can be found here.

Skin Purifying DayTime Protection 20

Cellnique online benefits of SPDTP20 promise to:
• Kills bacteria P.acnes that causes acne inflammation
-> IDK what this means, but the good news is that it didn’t make me break out.
• Prevents breakout
-> There certainly weren’t any new ones!
• Heals acne prone skin
-> How many different ways can we say this?
• Promotes acne healing
-> See last 3 bullets.
• Reduces inflammation
-> It felt nice on my skin, very matte actually.
• Anti-irritant
-> Please see previous bullets.

I do not have any before and after pictures.

So on to the review!

The color on this is made for fair to medium tone skin and it is very sheer so I am hesitant to call this a foundation; but it provides a nice base for powder foundation. The feeling though creamy at first is quite matte feeling, and you need to work/rub fast before it just dries up. A+ in my book for sunscreens!

Again, I still hate the packaging, I feel like this is going to be one of those things that I will have to cut open and scoop out toward the end.

I very much like this, for the price of _ if you really suffer from oily/congested skin, and want sun protection, it is worth it!

Cellnique Product Review
Skin Purifying DayTime Protection 20 Part I

Continuing with my review for Cellnique, as previously mentioned here, I am adding the Skin Purifying DayTime Protection 20 to my daily regime. I thought how perfect with the sun finally to come out and shine.

Skin Purifying DayTime Protection 20

Cellnique says: A specially designed 3-in-1 daytime protection with SPF20 for oily and acne prone skin. It works as a full spectrum sun protection (blocks UVA and UVB), an acne cream and a natural foundation to even acne marks. Non-oily formulation.

Benefits
• Kills bacteria P.acnes that causes acne inflammation
• Prevents breakout
• Heals acne prone skin
• Promotes acne healing
• Reduces inflammation
• Anti-irritant

At first glance, I thought – oh boy this has SPF, I know how this will end, I’ll look like an oil-slick. It certainly is a creamy formula, but this was expected because of the SPF. The coverage was very sheer but it did provide a nice creamy base for my sometimes drying foundation. (You know how foundation gets, sometimes it just stick to those dry spots.) Oh and no smell! So everytime I put it on I don't get depressed because all I want to do is go to the beach from the smell of sunblock.

ingredients

What excited me about the Skin Purifying DayTime Protection 20 (oh.em.gee! that is a freaking mouthful, let’s call it SPDTP20 for short) was that this contained Burdock Extract. For those that are unfamiliar, have no fear - Burdock root has often been used to purify the blood (orally) and as a topical remedy for skin problems such as eczema, acne, and psoriasis.

The packaging is debatable. I like that it has a pump so my little fingers don’t contaminate the entire potion, however, it’s like bigger version of a juicy tube – only the squeezing doesn’t get the stuff out. So first time around I pumped and pumped and pumped and squeezed while pumping and did a little shake then pumped some more. After I finally got my first squirt it seemed like half of the SPDTP20 was gone. I mean look at the first picture! Doesn’t it look like I’ve been using this for weeks?

Nonetheless, I hope this doesn’t make me breakout like some other SPF containing moisturizers (cough Cosmedicine Medi-Matte).

I can officially say I have been wearing this all day and at first my face was like "ahh Lizzard you bitch I’m suffocating" but it was so hot in my house I decided to ignore my screaming pores. I am currently at work (yes and typing this blog) where there is nice air conditioning and my face doesn’t feel any different than it would without the SPDTP20.

I will be back within two weeks to report how my skin is reacting to daily morning use. I have to confess though, I am nervous; I don’t want my skin to declare war because of the sun protection. eek!

New Beauty Magazine + Test Tube

Remember when I mentioned sending a check for $29.95 to New Beauty only to receive 4 issues? Well, my first issue finally came! And so did my Test Tube, which isn't a tube at all but rather a sturdy hybrid of a makeup bag and zip-lock bag.

I was please to find that inside were surprises ranging from water spray to eye base. To be exact I got:
• TRUE Anti-aging Youth Revealing Complex
• Trish McEvoy Eyebase Essentials in Bare
• Avene Thermal Spring Water
• Befine lip exfoliator (full size)
• Lancome Secret de Vie
• Bioelements Lutein Indoor Protective Day Crème
• Jane Iredale Losgest Lash mascara sample (2)

I am yet to sample everything. It seems I have been getting package after package and this have just been stacking up. But no worries, they’ll get some love soon. :)

Cellnique Product Review
Skin Action Sebum Gel Part II

It has officially been 10 days since I have included Cellnique’s Skin Action Sebum Gel into my daily skincare regime. (Just a reminder this product was sent to me by Cellnique, you can read more about it here).

You can read about my first impressions here.

On to the good stuff...
Cellnique says the benefits include:
• Controls excessive sebum
-> Agreed. The oils in my skin have been feeling under control, especially with the hot and sticky weather we have been having on the east coast.
• Reduces the formation of blackheads and whiteheads
-> Agreed. My skin has been feeling more controlled and this is probably due to the fact that the oils it is producing are under control.
• Reduces skin inflammatory
-> I’m not really sure what this is referring to, but my face hasn’t been feeling swelled nor have I gotten a pimple from this. Yippee!
• Controls and prevents breakouts
-> This has not made me breakout.
• Increases skin moistures and improves skin elasticity
-> I can’t say I agree or disagree with this comment because my skin has been feeling good, but I also have been wearing moisturizer over this gel as I was instructed to do so.
• Anti-irritation
-> Again, this did not make me breakout nor have I had any sort of allergic reaction to it (thank goodness!).

All of the photos are clickable. It’s kind of ‘ew’ I hate to do this to you, but it’s the only way. I as you can see I have huge pores and they did not disappear. That is just not reality. They do, however, feel softer and less yucky, and especially on my chin, it really did a number on helping me out. Mix this little potion with a great scrub and you’re good to go.

Just a quick FYI, my skin care regime exists of Philosophy Purity facial cleanser day and night, every few nights I use Clean & Clear’s Blackhead Eraser or Origin’s Get Down scrub and Shiseido Pureness matifying moisturizer.

Would I repurchase?
If you’d ask me to buy this I would. However, I feel like there are strong products out there, but with strong products comes irritation and tightness, and this certainly does cost a pretty penny ($51 USD). This felt very good and refreshing on my skin. If you’re suffering from serious acne, you need something stronger, however, if you see you have a face like mine, go for it, it’s really something extra to add to your daily (and nightly) regime to help control oil production.
