I need the very basics to wash my makeup brushes: hot water and a bar of soap.

First, run some hot water and wet the brush's bristles. Make sure it's good and wet! It's like washing hair, shampoo + dry hair = bad; same with a makeup brush.

Then, swirl it around on your bar of soap. I prefer bars to liquids because the lather is richer and I feel it gives the bristles that "deep clean." Last, rinse again in hot running water. I like to also tap mine against the sink to really get the grimmies out.

Lay the brushes flat to dry. Make sure they're not soaked either, I just whip mine around a few times, then shape the bristles back into position.

Caution: Your bar of soap will look gross and dirty! Just rinse it under hot water and you'll be fine.

I found that the best and quickest way to wash my brush holder is to use a regular kitchen sponge and a tiny drop of dish soap. Scrub and rinse with hot water. I hang mine on my shower door to dry.

Hope this helps!
